Just Another Birthday

A while back I wrote a blog about Casting Crowns. Again listening to them (and not singing along) I am reminded of their words. They are strong words.

On their new album 'Come To The Well' they have a song called 'Just Another Birthday'. This song is written about girls who's fathers have left their families and are seeking a male figure to look too. In this song the girl misses her father, then finds a boyfriend at 19 and ends up pregnant. Sadly, as I am sure you are aware, this is incredibly common. I know lots of girls, most who, unlike this girl, have good relationships with and love their dads, have ended up pregnant at a young age.
So back to the song. She ends up at an abortion clinic to have a termination (this is controversial topic I know but it's the story) and she ends up crying out for help to God and doesn't go through with it. 2 years later she is happy with her daughter and has God in her life.

It's a beautiful (though sad in places) story and was inspired by many of the girls that Mark and Melanie have met through their youth work. It makes you wonder if there are any girls (or boys looking to women to fulfill them) that you could reach out to and shine God's love to them. God fulfills us completely. Not a partner, tv show, latest fashion item, owning a house or the must have gadget. God.

It's a challenging song when you look at it like that. And I love it. So here it is. Have a listen. Even if it isn't your type of music.

Also, here is the background video for the song by Mark Hall. It's uber interesting. :)

God Bless xx
