However as Wimbledon is now done, it does mean one thing. Camp is almost upon us. WOOOOOOO!
For those of you who don't know. Every summer I go away for 10 days to a boarding school (the location has varied but now I'm settled at one) and spend the time with other teenagers and students playing silly games, eating food, eating lots of cake and reading the Bible lots of singing lots and asking and answering lots of questions. It's good fun. I've been going on these since I was 12. So just a while.
I head there on the 27th July this year. And return on the 5th August (my 20th birthday). This year (and last) because of my age I am no longer a 'member' but a 'Berean'. This is the student part (and those just after university). They do lots of reading the Bible and serving the camp. Clearing up after meals, setting up the hall, theme night, cleaning the showers etc..this gives the leaders the chance to chat to the members. It's a very humbling experience. Think about it. Would you PAY to wash up after 150 people? Would you PAY to clean the showers and toilets? We get nothing from it except knowing that people younger then us are getting the time with their leaders to talk.
Last year, I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting myself in for and to be honest, it was a bit of a shock. But I am looking forward to it so much this year. A chance to hang out with friends from around the country, be humbled and read the best selling book :) and a book which is banned in so many countries.
So I'm pretty excited. However, it does mean that there will probably be a PCB (Post camp blues) post coming your way in the next few weeks.
Hope you're all enjoying or looking forward to your summers. Perhaps you can find something humbling to do?
This is me last year on the 'theme night' each year we have a different theme and last years was wild west. So this is my attempt as a cowgirl. (It's harder to find an outfit then you'd think!) This years theme is Olympics. So I'm an 'Olympic Official' this year. It's going to be fun.
