Summer 2012

This sounds like the title for a blog at the end of the summer. Not at the start! However, here in the UK, we have a pretty unique summer ahead of us. Our Queen will be celebrating her 60th year on the throne and we are also holding a 2012 Olympics. There is also the tradition of Wimbledon.
A lot of people couldn't care less and can't wait for this summer to be over. Or at least, they make out that's how they feel. Something like it's not cool to care. And they don't want to be patriotic.
I'm not one of those people.

I love the Olympics and Wimbledon and I am gutted that I won't be around to watch the opening ceremony and the first week of the Olympics. (I will be away with around 200 people on a holiday.) Wimbledon is just great to watch. I got into it during my long summer a few years back and watch it every year now religiously. I can't wait for it this year. As for the Olympics. Well, that's only once every 4 years. And it's being held here in the UK this time around. Sure a lot of people have said it won't work out and that they don't care. But the Torch has been going around the UK for a week now and there are crowds watching it all over. I think people do care. And I for one, can't wait to watch it. And I'm not ashamed to say it either!

As I said our Queen is also celebrating her 60th year on the throne. The shops have gone crazy for it. Almost like 10 years ago when she celebrated her 50th year! Gary Barlow has done a song for it along with the Military Wives choir. He has also gone around the Commonwealth getting people to help sing the song and play along too. He has also organised a massive concert which I can't wait to watch on the telly when it's on.

People may be against this big summer but there is no avoiding it. It's everywhere and you can't hide from it. I guess people are going to have to suck it up and deal with it. Unless they are going abroad. And even then, it will be hard to hide from the Olympics. I can say wholeheartedly that this summer is going to be one that I remember for a few years to come.

So I leave you with this. The song Gary Barlow has done for the jubilee. I love it. It always gives me goosebumps and I hope you love it as much as I do.
